The Dog Days of Summer

So this past Saturday was the first day of summer-WOOHOOO!! Here in TN we are having some unusually nice, aka not blistering hot, weather. I took the dogs to the lake to play. Molly had a wonderful time. Bailey who is doing much better (thanks for everyones well wishes) came with us to sniff around. I, of course, have pictures. Enjoy!!

Molly and Bailey on the ride to the park...awake, eager, excited!!!
Bailey might not seem excited...but I assure you he was:)

Loving Life
That's a dog smile
This is as close as Bailey would get to the water....but he also looks like he is smiling...

This cracked me up....her eyes are totally shut.
This is the after picture...these guys were WORN OUT

even Molly laid down...and she lives to stick her head out the window...

Bailey goes under the knife...again

So poor Bailey had some more minor surgery this past Wednesday. He has tumors popping up on his legs, as he gets older so every time i find one, I make sure to get it removed quickly. This is his second one. Since he has been feeling really good lately I decided it was also, finally, time to get his teeth cleaned. Keep in mind he is 10 and this was his first time. Needless to say he had a bit of tooth decay. The removed 6 teeth in total. I know that sounds bad-but Bailey had residual baby teeth, and that accounted for three of them. According to the vet he was in good shape for a dog his age. I think he would be well into his 60's in human years. He is recovering nicely. Plenty of cheese, soft food and deli meat to make him feel like a new dog. Here are some pics...too cute to not share.

Mom..I look stupid, take this off...you are humiliating me....really
Did you say cheese....I will perk up for cheese....give me some!!
You are still dead to me....This is truly cramping my style...

A Carrie statue and a college called Brown

On our last day in Rhode Island we explored Providence. We got lost a few times due to a misguided navigation system but ended up finding plenty to do. We shopped downtown for a bit. We then went to the Brown campus to explore. Its a beautiful campus....and it was exciting to be there the weekend of their Spring graduation. Lots of kids in the bookstore buying their last college sweatshirt. I was a little nostalgic thinking it has been 10 years since I graduated from UT. While there we stumbled upon a "Carrie" statue. I took some pictures, but its kind of hard to see. The statue was a gift from the husband of the daughter of the founder of Brown. I love finding stuff with my name on it...spelled correctly.

Here is the tower/statue from across the street....
Up close on my name in marble...very fun!
Little Carrie next to CARRIE TOWER. I wanted to climb up on it...but it was right near this grassy knoll with lots of students and I thought that would clearly differentiate me from the actual students...looking back if I acted drunk it might have been OK? Maybe next time

Blog critics be silenced!! CHECK OUT AOL......

I am sure everyone with a blog out there knows how hard it can be to deal with blog critics. "You don't blog enough," "Your blog content isn't spontaneous enough" and my favorite "why blog when you can call??" You all know who you are. I am blogging as often as I can. I am sorry my life can be dull sometimes;)

I wanted to take this opportunity, while at work, to post something job related. AOL has just launched some GREAT content from HGTV, Food Network and DIY Network on their video site. In case anyone has missed it....please check it out. It could have to do with job security for this blogger....if that matters:)

Prudence Island, RI

I just returned from Prudence Island, a small island off Bristol, Rhode Island. I know-allot of island talk. Here are some pictures from the trip.

The lighthouse that was on the beach right off our front door....

This was our beach cottage. It was adorable.
The bridge to the mainland.
I love this house. It sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean and the stone dock. It looks so romantic (the house not the fish.)

The sun as it set...I thought the colors were so pretty.

Like a statue, huge lobsters and equally huge yachts

I spent one day in Newport, RI. I have been once before and was excited about the chance to go again and explore. Besides the beautiful view of the water there is some great shopping there. Here are some pics:

historic church steeple right on the waterfront...
I liked this sign since it reference quahogs. If you have never had a quahog then lucky you. Its a clam like thing that is super chewy-like seafood gum....
Did everyone else know that these little sea birds eat starfish? I watched this one go at the starfish for at least 20 minutes....

The Newport waterfront....
Me in front of the harbor...
A lovely little yacht that I wished Iowned....
OK...this is one of those times when a pic wont do something justice. This lobster was GINORMOUS. Seriously huge. His claws alone were HUGE.

How to post a comment...Dad

So I was talking to me Dad tonight and he said he would actually comment on my blog, if he knew how. I figured this must be the reason more people don't comment. You all simply don't know how. OK...so under the posts it almost always says "0 comments," you can click on this and it prompts you to comment. You type your comment and then at the bottom on the right it says "publish comment." Now you don't have any excuses blogging visitors:)
